Evaluating enterprise asset management software: Whose opinion matters?

What sources do you trust when you’re researching a potential software purchase?

Chances are, you look for third-party validation from analysts, customers, and partners of the software company. References, scalability, integration, training, and support are all important considerations. A provider’s credentials and independent evaluations can also help you build a clearer picture of the solution.

While we are always enthusiastic about discussing the functionality and value of Octave Attune EAM—formerly HxGN EAM and previously Infor EAM—we understand that you also want perspectives beyond those of the vendor and its partners.

One example comes from an evaluation conducted by Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC), a provider of software research, evaluation tools, and selection services, when the product was known as Infor EAM.

As described in the original coverage of that evaluation, a TEC analyst reviewed a product demonstration and conducted a benchmarking analysis. The review covered the main functional areas of an enterprise asset management solution, along with aspects such as user experience, interface, and workflow.

The result? Infor EAM was rated in TEC’s “dominant” zone in four categories: maintenance management, integration, financials, and reliability. In TEC’s terminology, this indicated support for more functionality than the average solution in the comparison, highlighting potential competitive differentiators.

The report also encouraged organizations with different budgets, levels of asset management maturity, and existing ERP environments to consider what Infor EAM offered when evaluating an EAM or CMMS solution.

That evaluation is part of the product’s history. It should not be interpreted as a new certification of the current Octave Attune EAM release. However, it illustrates the role independent research can play in a software selection process.

When evaluating Octave Attune EAM today, consider historical analyst research alongside current product information, relevant customer references, and a demonstration focused on your organization’s requirements. Confirm which capabilities, integrations, and services are included in the proposed solution.

The goal is not simply to find software with strong credentials. It is to find a solution that fits your assets, maintenance processes, and business needs.
